My parents owned a party rentals business for 25+ years. tents, tables, chairs, everything you could need for an event or a wedding—but they never invested in software that would have made their lives so much easier.
As a kid, I spent my weekends with my dad driving around in the big box truck to set up for these events. Meanwhile, my mom was always busy answering phone calls, sending contracts and invoices (by mail!), and trying to keep up with (and remember) everything that needed to be done. They worked so hard, and without digital tools to help them, staying on top of everything was a completely manual and completely stressful process.
I think that’s a huge part of why I’m so passionate about strategic systems now, and why I’m such a big advocate for giving yourself the permission to make smart business investments.
